Notes: Deciduous shrub commonly found along rivers and streams statewide in NC. A good wildlife resource, its fruits are eaten by birds and small mammals. Small animals also seek cover under its branches. Best used in woodland gardens or alongside rivers or streams. A good option for stream bank restoration as it spreads clonally and stops erosion.
