Notes: Herbaceous perennial wildflower found in Northern Hardwood forests and Rich Cove Forests in the NC Mountains and Piedmont foothills (easternmost counties are Rockingham and Davidson.) Known as one of the largest and showiest trilliums. As a spring ephemeral, it provides early season nectar to pollinators when most other flowers are still dormant. Best planted in a shaded garden with rich, humusy soil or in a naturalized woodland area.
