Notes: Herbaceous perennial wildflower commonly found in moist hardwood forests in the Mountain and Piedmont regions of NC. It is attractive to pollinators and supports specialized native bee, Andrena distans. Songbirds eat the seeds and it is somewhat tolerant of damage from deer and rabbits. It is best used in a naturalized woodland, or in a partially shaded pollinator garden, looks great in mass plantings.
