Notes: Herbaceous perennial wildflower commonly found in prairies, fields, open woods, and disturbed areas. Attractive to pollinators and provides them with nectar from mid-summer until the first frost. Larval host plant to the Silvery Checkerspot butterfly (Chlosyne nycteis). Songbirds eat its seeds. Best used in naturalized fields or meadows or border areas.
